MENTORING

Student-centered professional and personal development

I am deeply committed to mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. In all grants I have earned, I ensure budget lines for paid research opportunities for students. I have mentored seven undergraduate research assistants, both in the U.S. and Colombia, and involved them in all aspects of research - from design, literature reviews, data collection, and publishing. I have worked with three undergraduate students on their successful applications for masters programs in geography, anthropology and agronomy.
